Virginia Tech football: 2024 Hokies earn praise on ‘Pat McAfee Show’

How good can the Virginia Tech Hokies be in 2024? If you ask any Virginia Tech fan, they will tell you that they think the Hokies will be really good next season.

Tech returns 20 starters in the fall and faces a favorable schedule. Outside of VT’s four non-conference games, the Hokies only play two of the projected top eight teams in ACC play. One of those two games is against Clemson and will be at Lane Stadium.

Last week, the “Pat McAfee Show” was discussing potential longshot teams to make the 2024 College Football Playoffs. Remember, the field will expand from four teams to 12 teams next season, which helps teams like the Hokies. Most college football fans would say it’s the same group of teams involved in the CFP every year, and this is a welcome change.

Anthony DiGuilio, who goes by “Tone Digz” on the McAfee show, mentioned the Hokies. He listed the reasons why he believes Virginia Tech will steal one of those 12 spots.

Check it out:

Did you notice how McAfee called Virginia Tech’s fan base “amazing”? McAfee played at West Virginia, so he knows everything about Hokie Nation. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t get the chance to play in Blacksburg, but he knows how special the game day atmosphere at Lane Stadium is. McAfee said if the Hokies could somehow host a CFP game in Blacksburg, it would be “great.”

What do you think, Hokies? Do you think Virginia Tech has a chance of making the College Football Playoffs next season?
