The Arsenal transfer will “interest” the Manchester United man who is looking for a “new challenge” with Arteta to “resurrect his career”

Arsenal legend Ray Parlor believes missing out on Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford would be a “great signing” for the Gunners.

The Gunners are looking for a new striker and have been linked with Rashfordalthough the chances of this signing materializing seem quite slim.

The 26-year-old’s long-term future at Old Trafford has been called into question after a disappointing 2023/24 campaign in which he missed out on England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Mikel Arteta could always work his magic on Rashford and help him rediscover the form we saw in 22/23, but Man Utd He will surely ask for a huge fee if a Premier League rival arrives.

Former Arsenal midfielder Parlor believes the Spanish manager could get the best out of Rashford, who “needs a new challenge”.

living room said (quotes via TheAFCNewsroom): “I think if Mikel Arteta feels that Rashford can fit into his plans, then he would be a great signing for Arsenal. It seems evident that Rashford needs a new challenge as he has not fired for Manchester United lately.

“He can fit well on Arsenal’s left side or even in the middle.

“He is still young and I think he is hungry to succeed and the challenge of Arsenal and the fight for the title should interest him.

“It also depends on the FFP, as Arsenal would have to let go of a couple of players, which could be (Emile) Smith Rowe or (Reiss) Nelson, if Rashford was the player Arteta chose to seek the signature.

“Rashford has always played well against Arsenal and a new challenge may be exactly what he needs to resurrect his career. “We have seen before that players need a change of environment.”

Whether it’s Rashford or anyone else, Parlor believes a new striker should be Arsenal’s “priority” in the summer transfer window.

“I think Arsenal need to get a number 9 this summer, without a doubt,” he said. I am confident that Edu and Mikel will get the right player in this position, which will benefit the team and move Arsenal forward.

“(Kai) Havertz has done a great job, but reinforcements in this position are key. Given the FFP, Arsenal may have to sell Smith Rowe or Nelson to raise money, but this position would be a priority for me.

“Outside of this, if (Thomas) Partey leaves, then an efficient central midfielder who works well with Rice is also important. “Defensively, (Jurrien) Timber is ready to return and can be a great asset for Arsenal.”

Arteta is also reportedly targeting a new midfielder and Parlor was asked about interest in Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, who he does not believe is right for the Emirates.

“I like him as a player, he’s very strong and he’s played a big part in the improvement Newcastle have made under Eddie Howe,” he said.

“I’m not sure he fits into the Arsenal team as we have Declan Rice and Guimaraes is a bit more attacking which Arsenal need to strengthen.

“If Partey moves on, Arsenal could look for a more efficient player than Guimaraes, so I’m not 100 per cent sure Arteta will look to pursue him. As for his personality, he will also have to fit into the team dynamic.”
