Shortly after it became clear that Earley would be the Aggies’ new head coach, D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers revealed that many of the Aggies who entered the portal after Schlossnagle’s departure may return due to the popularity of internal recruiting.
Earley has spent the past three seasons as Texas A&M’s hitting coach, where he was instrumental in the Aggies’ collective hitting efforts in 2024. Under his guidance, no team in the country drew more walks (422) than the Aggies last season, while ranking in the top 10 in home runs (136) and total runs (575). They also averaged 8.5 runs per game last season.
During his first season with Texas A&M, Camarillo appeared and started in all 68 games for the Aggies during the 2024 season, one of three players on Schlossnagle’s team to do so. Camarillo recorded 72 hits, 21 of which went for extra bases, along with 36 RBIs while batting .288 for the Aggies, along with seven home runs with 50 total runs under his belt.
Camarillo transferred to Texas A&M after spending two seasons at California State University, Northridge, in Los Angeles, in his home state.
While making a name for himself at CSUN, Camarillo ranked second in the Big West in batting average (.371) and fourth in slugging (.611), while scoring 44 runs and 65 hits overall. That means 68 percent of the time Camarillo recorded a hit, he scored a run. For his efforts, he was named to the All-Big West first team before entering the NCAA transfer portal.
During his freshman season in 2022, he missed 23 games after suffering a midseason injury. Before missing a good portion of the season, Camarillo made 29 starts at shortstop, including the first 15 games of the season. He totaled 30 hits, 21 runs, 14 RBIs, seven walks and one home run during his limited time on the field. Now, he’ll look to continue that effort at Texas A&M for another season under his newly promoted head coach.
