INF Luis Angel Acuna, Triple-A Syracuse
Acuna probably doesn’t want to see the calendar flip to July on Monday, because June has been a stellar month for the 22-year-old.
Acuña hit his fifth home run of the season Saturday night on the first pitch of the game, and in the month of June he is batting .300/.352/.420 with two home runs, 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored .
Fast launcher Christian ScottTriple-A Syracuse
Mets captain Carlos Mendoza said Sunday that Wednesday’s starter for the Mets is currently “to be determined,” but all signs point to Scott being called upon again to make the start as the Mets continue their streak of 17 games without a day off.
Scott has been fantastic in four starts since being ejected again, and it’s very clear the Mets want him to maintain a regular schedule while limiting his pitches and innings. On Tuesday, Scott allowed one earned run and four hits in four innings against Buffalo.
Fast launcher Brandon SproatDouble A Binghamton
Sproat’s ridiculous season continued Tuesday when he pitched 6.0 scoreless innings against Portland. He allowed just five hits, struck out three and walked two.
The right-hander has certainly made a name for himself this season, pitching to a sublime 1.61 ERA with 76 strikeouts in 67.0 innings for Brooklyn and Binghamton.
RHP Blade Tidwell, Triple-A Syracuse
The Mets’ top pitching prospect has had a bit of a slump since being called up to Triple-A, but he had one of his best starts in his last outing.
Last Sunday against Rochester, Tidwell pitched 6.0 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits. However, he only struck out one batter and walked three.
In six Triple-A appearances, Tidwell has a 5.00 ERA and 1.52 WHIP.
OF Ryan CliffordDouble-A Binghamton
The powerful left-handed hitter had a bit of a down week, but turned things around on Friday when he hit a solo home run against Portland.
The Mets promoted Clifford to Double-A in hopes that being away from the Coney Island wind would improve his power numbers, and Clifford now has nine home runs and 17 extra-base hits in 37 games for the Rumble Ponies, up from one home run. and seven extra-base hits in 31 games for the Cyclones,
Two-way player Nolan McLean, Double-A Binghamton
McLean was used exclusively as a pitcher this week, as his last at-bat was on June 20 (he homered against Akron that day).
Against Portland on Friday, McLean allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking one against Portland.
McLean failed to get out of the third inning in his previous start, so this was a nice bounce-back performance for the right-hander, who likely profiles as a bullpen power arm at the major league level.
