LHP Jhonathan Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma
Seattle, Washington— Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President and General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:
- Brett de GeusRHP, retired from Triple-A Tacoma.
- Jonathan DiazLHP, traded to Triple-A Tacoma (after June 11 game).
by Geus (duh-GUS), 26, was traded to Triple-A Tacoma on April 22. He has appeared in 4 games with the Mariners this season, going 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA (1 ER, 3.1 IP) with no walks and 2 strikeouts.
The 6-foot-2 right-hander also appeared in 17 games with Triple-A Tacoma, going 0-1 with 5 saves, a 4.86 ERA (9 earned runs, 16.2 IP), 3 walks and 13 strikeouts.
de Geus signed a minor league contract with Seattle on February 24 and was transferred to major league camp on March 6. In 47 major league games between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks in 2021, de Geus was 3-2 with a 7.56 ERA. (42 ER, 50.0 IP) with 25 walks and 41 strikeouts.
