Currently, Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund is the only recognized striker in United’s squad but, following their rollercoaster campaign in 2023-24, the club are interested in bringing in reinforcements.

Bologna star Zirkzee – who arrived from Bayern Munich in August 2022, was 15th on the list of top scorers in Italy’s Serie A last season.

Zirkzee scored 11 goals in 34 league games to help his team to fifth place and a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

But Zirkzee, who also provided four assists in Serie A, may not yet be at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara as Bologna embark on their first elite European campaign since 1964.

He is in high demand and has a modest £34m release clause in his current contract.

Meanwhile, both Toney and David are entering the final years of their respective deals and could therefore be available for a reduced price.

The outlet also reports that RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko is on their radar, however, he is set to extend his stay at the German giants.

The 21-year-old had attracted great interest from both Arsenal and Man United, who seemed willing to fight for his signature.

Ajax’s Brian Brobbey is another name that has caught their attention, however, the outlet claims their interest comes from ten Hag.
