Safety in Pittsburg (California) Jay Hudson stays in the state.
Hudson announced his commitment to UCLA on Saturday afternoon.

“I feel like the main reason I chose UCLA is because of Coach (DeShaun) Foster and Coach (Brian) Norwood and how family-oriented they are.
“I see myself coming in as a freshman making an impact. I’m going to defend the Rose Bowl, one of the best college stadiums of all time, if not the best.”
“I knew it was the place for me when I was on my official visit. I told Coach Norwood and Coach Foster. They were really excited and still are to this day. The coaches played a big role. In September, Hudson named one of his top ten, alphabetically, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, USC and Washington. In fact, the Bruins hadn’t even offered. They would do it in the fall, and Norwood and then-defensive coordinator D’Antony Lynn offered it to him.
In April, Hudson named the final four Oregon, Tennessee, UCLA and USC.
In the end, the Bruins ended up being chosen.

UCLA already has two high school commitments in this class, but both are cornerbacks in Chase Coleman and Kuron Jabari Jr.. So Hudson’s commitment gives them real security in this class. They didn’t sign a safety in the 2024 class, they signed a couple of curveballs, so getting a safety in the 2025 class was crucial.
