Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce turned down a spot on Netflix’s ‘Receiver’

One of the biggest stars in the NFL refused to join the upcoming “Netflix show”Receiver“, inspired by the 2023 smash hit “Quarterback,” produced by OmahaProductions. The show will chronicle the preparation of the NFL’s top receivers ahead of the upcoming season. Breaking a small rule, the show will also feature George Kittle, the San Francisco 49ers tight end who is recognized as one of the best pass catchers in the league.

Travis Kelce, a much-talked-about name since his Super Bowl wins with Patrick Mahomes and his relationship with Taylor Swift, was reportedly given the chance to appear on the show but declined because he wanted to avoid “that reality shit.”

After his supernova In the 2023-24 season, Kelce could have given the show some serious star power. Kelce is also opening himself up to opportunities in film and television, so passing up the Netflix show was a surprise.

Appearing on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, Kelce revealed that he was offered a spot on “Receiver.”

“I’d rather play ball, man,” Kelce admitted. “I’m doing enough with the podcast and all that. I’m so sick of the reality shit, man. I’m out of that shit.”

“Quarterback,” which spotlighted the NFL’s top quarterbacks, featured Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes’ production company, 2PM Productions, is also producing the new show “Receiver.”

The show will follow Las Vegas Raiders’ Davante Adams, Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown and San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

From hosting SNL to hosting a podcast with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce is going full Hollywood and already has enough clout to choose his projects.

Before then, he’ll still have to wear the Chiefs jersey. According to the 34-year-old tight end, he has no plans to retire in the near future.

“I know I’m 34,” Kelce said in June. “I love coming to work every day.”

“Kansas City has been my home for the last 11 years,” Kelce added. “I think of that every time I come back to town. I use the offseason to recharge my batteries, but at the same time I’m a football player. I love to play the game, that will always be my main focus.”

Kelce turned things around during last year’s playoffs. In four postseason games (en route to a Super Bowl victory), Kelce recorded 355 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. During the regular season, Kelce had 93 receptions for 984 yards. Kelce, Mahomes and their team won their third Super Bowl in the past five seasons.

“Receiver” will consist of eight episodes of 45 minutes each. The show will premiere on July 9, 2024.
