Auburn lands commitment from elite 2025 safety Eric Winters

Winters are coming. Eric Wintersthat is.

From Enterprise (Ala.), the senior safety who was once recruited as a linebacker in the 2025 class had plenty of offers but has committed to Auburn. Ranked by 247Sports as Alabama’s No. 53 player, No. 5 safety and No. 5 player, Winters becomes another big piece in Auburn’s class.

Previously, Auburn linebackers coach Josh Aldridge and head coach Hugh Freeze He focused on Winters as one of his top targets in 2025. However, as things continued to change, it was carlos kelly who became Winters’ primary recruiter, recruiting him to play as a hybrid safety on DJ DurkinThe defense.

“Really that family feeling,” Winters previously said of Auburn. “Talking to Coach Kelly, who coached people who look like me and put people who look like me in the league. It’s really a blessing to have someone who knows what to do with me. Who has guys who play like me, like Derwin James. Coach Durkin has coached guys like Jabrill Peppers, who are so versatile and versatile that they are everywhere.”

Both Georgia and Miami were the last contenders for Winters. Georgia gained some momentum over the spring and summer. Like Miami, both schools put a lot of pressure on Auburn and made things interesting down the stretch.

But Auburn made Winters a must-have recruit and the Tigers did not fail.

“Really just the people there and the program,” Winters said. “Everywhere you go in Auburn there are great people. The atmosphere is great. The coaches have been very hard on me and they are great people.”

As the busy summer official visit and camp season draw to a close, Winters caps what has been a successful month and puts the Tigers in 15 total commitments. His commitment propels Auburn from No. 8 to No. 6 in the 247Sports Team Recruitment Rankingswhich ranks third in the SEC behind Alabama and Georgia.
